Sixth Form Handbook

A message from Mr Penney – Sixth Form Leader

We would like to welcome you to St Peter and St Paul Catholic Voluntary Academy Sixth Form.

Our Sixth Form is an exciting and challenging place to be – a place where you will develop academically, pastorally, and spiritually. We also provide a full range of enrichment activities designed to develop each and every one of our students.

The atmosphere is friendly and is designed to support you in achieving the high expectations that the Sixth Form has of its students. Our staff work closely with you to help guide you through all aspects of your time here. Lessons are dynamic and engaging, with students actively participating and enjoying the learning ethos that is created. The Sixth Form provides a supportive working environment, with students making good use of independent study lessons, which are vital to attaining the best possible final grades.

Our Sixth Form is a place where you can prepare for the next stage of your life and equip yourself with the skills, qualifications and attitudes you need to be successful. In this sense, motivation from all those associated with the Sixth Form is key. We strongly believe that by achieving outstanding results in our carefully selected courses, you will be in the best possible position when you come to leave us and take your first steps into the wider world

About our Academy

At St Peter and St Paul CVA we are committed to securing the academic success of our students, but in addition, we work hard to nurture other equally important aspects of life: laughter, fun, joy, celebration, caring for others, an ability to think beyond oneself, and the opportunity to know and love God. We want our students to ‘have life and have it to the full’, developing qualities that we hope will remain with them throughout their life journey long after leaving our school community.

Giving you the best start in adult life

Your Sixth Form years should be the most exciting time in your school career. They are certainly the most important, as you determine the path you will take in the future and create memories you will look back on for the rest of your life.

We are proud of our excellent academic record, with many of our students progressing into further study at some of the best universities in the country, including Oxford and LSE. Those who choose to head straight into the workplace are able to quickly find rewarding employment or apprenticeships following their studies with us.

We respect all our students as individuals and young adults, and as well as furthering your academic success, we hope that you will leave our Sixth Form as a compassionate and fully rounded member of the community. We are here to support you to achieve your full potential and build a bright future, no matter what path you choose to take.

Priority will be given to current students in Year 11 at St Peter and St Paul, although we welcome applications from any student who meets our entrance criteria. In order to apply, students need to click the ‘Apply and Enrol’ button above and complete the application form. Mr Penney, Sixth Form Leader, will be in contact to arrange a formal interview at a mutually convenient date and time.
